Today I watched the sun set for a little while
Its warm light reflected against the dim gray sky.
Little sparrows hovering as the twilight hangs upon the prairie
I thought I will wish to have watched it with you,
But to my surprise my heart was satisfied together with You.
I was blinded by the searing light of this cheating world. I was blinded by the shine of the futile thing it offers. I was blinded by the superficial love its core excretes. I was blinded by my own reflection in its fragile pillars.
I let it take over You. I let it cheat me into believing that my cup can never be filled by You. I let it creep into my soul and suck all the light from You. I let it corrupt every ounce of my being and turn me into a heartless puppet strangled by its own strings.
Forgive me. Replenish me. Make me see once more. Burn my idols. Burn me if You will. Let me concede. Let me fall to my knees like a helpless soldier. Let me let go.
What’s the point of living momentarily in an abstract, uncertain world full of pain and hate and rejections and loss and lust and evil, when all your soul desire is to live in a cosmic, certain universe where love is real and joy is plentiful and future is eternal – basking in the glory of your Creator for all eternity.
